Acid-Free Archival Tissue Paper for Luxury, Apparel & Preservation

Dongguan Wise Packaging manufactures acid-free archival tissue paper engineered to protect delicate items over the long term. Buffered to a pH-neutral range and made lignin-free, it resists the yellowing and embrittlement that ordinary tissue causes — which is why it is the standard choice for luxury retail, jewelry, garment storage and museum-grade archival use. It belongs to our broader tissue paper range, sitting alongside our custom-printed and colored grades.

What Is Acid-Free Archival Tissue Paper?

Acid-free archival tissue starts from purified, lignin-free pulp that is then buffered with an alkaline reserve (typically calcium carbonate) to hold the sheet in a pH-neutral to slightly alkaline range — about 7.0–9.5. Because no acidic by-products remain in the sheet, it will not migrate acid onto the items it wraps, preventing the yellowing, spotting and embrittlement that ordinary wood-pulp tissue causes over months and years.

The lignin-free base is what keeps the sheet from darkening and becoming brittle with age. Together with the alkaline buffer, this is what earns the 'archival' label and makes the tissue suitable for long-term contact with textiles, paper, photographs and valuables.

What pH range does acid-free archival tissue hold?

Our acid-free archival tissue is buffered to a pH-neutral to slightly alkaline range of 7.0–9.5, held stable by an alkaline reserve (calcium carbonate). This meets the permanence requirement of ANSI/NISO Z39.48; test reports are available on request.

Which materials and items is acid-free tissue safe to wrap?

It is specified for long-term contact with items that must not degrade — garments and textiles, photographs and documents, silver and jewelry, and collectibles. Because it is lignin-free and non-acidic, it prevents yellowing, tarnish and embrittlement in storage. For food contact, use our greaseproof range instead.

Typical Applications

Acid-free tissue is specified wherever contact must stay safe for years, not just days. Luxury retailers use it in gift boxes and shopping bags to protect silver and delicate finishes from tarnish; apparel brands interleave garments to prevent color transfer and creasing; archivists and collectors wrap textiles, documents and photographs for storage that will not degrade them.

  • Luxury gift boxes and retail shopping bags (prevents silver tarnish)
  • Garment interleaving for apparel storage and shipping
  • Archival storage of textiles, documents and photographs
  • Museum and collector preservation of heirlooms
  • Jewelry and fragile product presentation

What does 'acid-free' mean for tissue paper?

It means the sheet is buffered to a pH-neutral to slightly alkaline range (about 7.0–9.5) with no acidic residues, and made from lignin-free pulp. This prevents the yellowing and embrittlement ordinary tissue can cause over time. Certification to ANSI/NISO Z39.48 and PAT (ISO 18916) is available on request.

Is acid-free tissue paper safe for silver and jewelry?

Yes. Because it does not release acid, acid-free tissue is widely used to line jewelry boxes and protect silver from tarnish during storage and display. Confirm the exact grade and certification for your market before commercial use.

Can acid-free tissue be custom printed?

Yes. We print branded acid-free tissue with low-migration inks in up to 6 colors, with custom sheet size and Pantone matching. Printed orders start at 500 reams.
